Shocked by the pager blast, Iran has now banned the use and import of Motorola company’s mobile phones.
Earlier, Iran had banned traveling with pagers and walkie-talkies in all flights.
In October itself, there was a pager blast in Lebanon, due to which more than 30 people died. It was suspected that the operatives had planted explosives in the pager before Hezbollah received it.
According to media reports, Iranian government minister Mohammad Mehdi Bardaran has announced a ban on Motorola in Tehran.
He said that the sale of Motorola has been banned within the borders of Iran.
The report quoted DiGiato as saying, ‘The sale of Motorola phones has also been stopped in online stores. These Motorola phones will either be removed from the list or declared out of stock.
Pager and walkie-talkie blast
There were pager blasts in Lebanon during 17–18 September, the majority of which were used by Hezbollah members. 12 people including two children were killed in the incident.
Whereas, about 1 thousand people were injured. Israel was blamed for the pager blast.
The next day, there were more explosions in Beirut and other parts of Lebanon. Some blasts also took place at the funerals of three Hezbollah members.
At least 25 people were killed and more than 600 were injured in the incident. While talking to AP, Hezbollah official confirmed the blast in walkie talkie.
