Paddy will be purchased on Saturday and Sunday also
Taking a big decision in the interest of the farmers of the state, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai will now purchase paddy on support price in cash and on linking basis till Sunday 4th February.
The Chief Minister has taken this sensitive decision keeping in mind that despite record purchase of paddy in the state, farmers do not face any problem in selling paddy.
It is noteworthy that the last date for purchasing paddy at support price in the Kharif marketing year 2023-24 is fixed as January 31.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, keeping in mind that the farmers who are left unable to sell paddy can easily sell their paddy in the paddy procurement centers of the society, issued instructions to purchase paddy on support price in cash and on linking basis by 4th February. The Chief Minister has also asked to purchase paddy in the procurement centers in the state on Saturday, 03 February and Sunday, 04 February, like normal days.
It is noteworthy here that this will be the first time that farmers will be able to sell their paddy in procurement centers on Saturday, February 3 and Sunday, February 4.
Farmer representatives and farmer organizations of the state have welcomed this decision of the Chief Minister and said that the farmers are excited by this sensitive decision of the Chief Minister in the interest of the farmers.
In the Kharif marketing year 2023-24, 142.23 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased in the state till January 31.
More than Rs 29 thousand 318 crore has been paid to him in lieu of paddy purchase.
