New York State Judge Juan Marchan has halted proceedings in a previously scheduled criminal case against President-elect Donald Trump, a document made public Tuesday revealed.
Judge Juan Marchant had until Tuesday to decide whether Trump’s sentence could be overturned because of the Supreme Court’s July decision. Trump was also planned to be sentenced on November 26.

Prosecutors from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office sent an email to Judge Merchen on Sunday, urging that the swearing-in ceremony be scheduled for January 2025, following Trump’s November 5 election victory. Due to busy schedule, the prosecution had appealed to the judge to stop the proceedings in all the cases for the time being.
“We agree that these are unprecedented circumstances,” prosecutors said. Judge Marchen has stayed all proceedings in the case till November 19.
