There is a good news for breast cancer patients. A small trial of an experimental vaccine for breast cancer patients, considered the most dangerous, has shown promising results.
This experiment was conducted on 18 new patients found suffering from breast cancer.
According to a report, this experiment was conducted on 18 new patients found suffering from triple-negative breast cancer. In these, the cancer did not spread to other parts of the body. These patients were given three doses of a vaccine made specifically for them after chemotherapy and surgery to remove the tumor. After three years, the cancer of 16 of these patients was cured.
Half of patients expected to be cancer free in three years
However, the researchers acknowledged that with standard care alone, only half of the patients were expected to be cancer-free within three years. This vaccine was designed to target key gene mutations in the patient’s tumor (neoantigens).
The vaccine was also designed to train the patient’s immune cells to recognize and attack any cells carrying these mutations.
The results are better than our expectations
Dr. of the School of Medicine at Washington University, who led this trial, said that such small and short-term studies are designed to test the safety, not the efficacy, of the vaccine. However, the results are better than our expectations.
What is cervical cancer?
Cervical cancer is a deadly type of this serious disease. Generally, cervical, ovarian, uterus, vaginal and vulvar cancers affect the reproductive organs of women. Cervical cancer is one of these, which starts in the cervix, hence it is known by this name. Cervical cancer is caused by a virus called human papillomavirus (HPV). All women infected with HPV are at risk for cervical cancer.

The most effective way to prevent cervical cancer is for both men and women to get the HPV vaccine before they become sexually active, usually during adolescence.
To prevent the spread of cancer-causing HPV, it is important that you practice safe sex. You can use condom or dental dam for this.
