BJP reached High Court to stop Mamata Banerjee’s 22 January rally, also demanded deployment of paramilitary forces…

The consecration ceremony of Ram Lala is going to be held in Ayodhya on 22 January.

All the opposition leaders including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have distanced themselves from this program.

Mamata is organizing a Sadbhav rally with people of all religions in Kolkata that day. BJP has filed a petition against this in the Calcutta High Court on Wednesday.

Banerjee had announced on Tuesday that she was not doing this to oppose anyone or anything but to pay tribute to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose ahead of his birth anniversary on January 23.

The petition filed in the High Court by Suvendu Adhikari, leader of opposition in the Bengal Assembly, has also demanded deployment of central paramilitary forces in all the districts on January 22 to deal with law and order problems.

Lawyers aware of the developments said the petition was accepted but a date for hearing had not been fixed till Wednesday afternoon. Realizing that she is losing control over Muslim voters, Mamata Banerjee wants to instigate people and create communal problems, the official said.

I have also written a letter to Governor CV Anand Bose requesting the Center to deploy central paramilitary forces in all the districts. We have seen attacks on several Ram Navami processions in Bengal last year.

Meanwhile, Adhikari’s brother Dibyendu Adhikari, who is TMC’s Lok Sabha member from Tamluk in East Midnapore district, has also sent a similar letter to the Governor and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, escalating the controversy.

Unlike Suvendu Adhikari and his youngest brother Krishnendu, Dibyendu and his father Sisir Adhikari are still in the TMC.

They represent two Lok Sabha constituencies. Dibyendu Adhikari on January 22 has urged the Center to ensure peace in Bengal.

Dibyendu Adhikari said that I have written the letter because I am a peace-loving citizen. Bengal has always been and should remain an example of communal harmony.

At the same time, TMC leadership has expressed a sharp reaction on this. TMC state general secretary Kunal Ghosh said that like snakes, officials are shedding their skin to show their true colors.

It is Suvendu who wants to create communal tension but his plans will fail because people are with Mamata Banerjee.
