‘Breach in the security of Parliament is a serious matter’, PM Modi said – there should be an in-depth investigation…

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while reacting to the incident of breach in the security of Parliament, has called it a serious matter.

The Prime Minister has also urged political parties to refrain from politicizing the issue. He has called it a matter of national security.

PM Modi made this comment in an interview given to a newspaper. He also called for a thorough investigation into the incident.

PM Modi has earlier directed his senior ministers to take the security breach in the Lok Sabha seriously.

“Take this incident seriously,” he told his ministers during a meeting on Thursday. Don’t do politics. We all have to be careful.” Let us tell you that the government has constituted a panel to investigate possible lapses in the security of Parliament, due to which two people intruded into the Lok Sabha and tried to disrupt the proceedings.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Saturday informed members of the House that he has constituted a high-powered committee to review various aspects of security in the Parliament complex.

He said the committee will prepare a concrete action plan to ensure that incidents like December 13 do not happen again.

Birla, in a letter to Lok Sabha members, also said that the high-level inquiry committee constituted by the Union Home Ministry has started its work.

Its report will be presented before the House soon. The Speaker of the Lok Sabha has written a letter to the MPs regarding the disruption of the proceedings of the House after the lapse in the security of the Parliament, and has made it clear that the incident of lapse in the security of the Parliament on December 13 and the decision of suspension of the MPs are different. It is unfair to link the two.

Birla said that the action has been taken only on the basis of the decision taken with everyone’s consent to run the proceedings of the House smoothly in the new Parliament building.

Referring to various high-level investigations into the incident, Birla has assured the MPs of necessary and effective action.

Birla has said in a letter to the MPs that it is unfortunate that some political parties and some MPs are linking the decision of suspension of MPs taken by the House with the incident that happened in Parliament.

This is inappropriate There is no connection between the suspension of the MPs and the incident that took place in the House on December 13, 2023. The suspension of the MPs is purely related to adherence to the best parliamentary traditions in the Parliament House. At the time of entering the new Parliament building, we all had decided together that we would not bring placards and placards into the House, nor would we create ruckus in the well of the House.

In this context, to protect the dignity and reputation of the House, the House has had to take the tough decision of suspension of the MPs. They are also saddened by this decision, but I also expect from all of you that in future all the members will keep the dignity of the House paramount.
