Kazan. In the BRICS conference, 13 countries have got the status of partner country in 2024, but Pakistan has not been given a place in it. Pakistan had applied to join BRICS, but it did not even get the status of partner country. Partner countries are not formal members of BRICS, but are included in the planning of the organization. This time more than 30 countries had applied for membership of BIX. At the BRICS Summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that before including new countries, care will be taken that the functionality of the organization is not affected. The statement indicates that BIX is considering new members, but the focus is on the selection process. Seven Muslim-majority countries including Algeria, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Turkey and Uzbekistan have been included in the list of BRICS partner countries.

BRICS symbol of change in the world: Jaishankar

From the Indian side, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar participated in the BRICS Plus meeting. Jaishankar said that BRICS is a symbol of bringing change in the world, especially in the Global South. He stressed the need for better connectivity and logistics for the world, so that risks can be reduced. Jaishankar also expressed concern over the increasing conflicts in West Asia and said that its expansion could have serious consequences for humanity. Sharing the views of Prime Minister Modi, he said that today is not the era of war and disputes should be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue.
