Patna . More than 37 thousand private schools are running without recognition in Bihar. The Education Department had invited applications for recognition from all private schools. A total of 49,702 schools had applied, out of which only 11,995 schools could get recognition. According to the report, only 5,562 of the recognized schools have given information about the seats available on their website.
In Muzaffarpur only 585 out of 2227 schools have recognition. Director of Primary Education Pankaj Kumar has ordered action against unrecognized schools and those which do not upload necessary information on the website even after getting recognition.
Bihar government is committed to provide free and compulsory education to children. Under this, all private schools were instructed to apply for recognition by August 10. Later the date was extended to August 17. 49702 schools applied, but most of the schools did not provide the required documents, due to which they could not get recognition. More than half of the 11,995 recognized schools have not uploaded their seat information on the website.
There is a question mark on the future of children studying in unrecognized schools. Any certificate obtained from such schools will not be valid. The names of such children will not be recorded even in government records. The Education Department has appealed to the parents to enroll their children only in recognized schools.
