New Delhi. The Supreme Court on Tuesday banned the bulldozer action being taken by the administration against criminals and other cases across the country. The court said that till further orders, bulldozer action will not be taken anywhere in the country. The apex court will issue guidelines in this regard. All the states of the country will have to follow the court’s instructions. The Supreme Court will now hear the petition against the bulldozer action on October 1. The Supreme Court also raised questions on the glorification of the bulldozer action. The court said that this should stop.
During the hearing, the Supreme Court said that action should be taken only with our permission till the next hearing. The court clearly said that this order will not apply to illegal construction on roads, footpaths, railway lines.
Senior advocate CU Singh said that demolition is being done every day. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that notice was given in 2022 and action was taken after that. Meanwhile, crimes have also been committed. Justice Gavai said that when notices were issued in 2022, then why the hurry in 2024? The state government should be informed. Justice Vishwanathan said that let me make it clear that we will have instructions. These are being called guidelines. Bulldozers or demolition should be banned anywhere without the permission of the court till the next date. Justice J Gavai said that we have made it clear that we will not come in the way of unauthorized construction, but the executive cannot be a judge.
