Toronto. India has been named among the countries at risk in the National Cyber Threat Assessment 2025-26 report for Canada. This report has been released by the Cyber Security Center of Canada. India is listed as a state adversary along with China, Russia, Iran and North Korea. In this, India has been called the rival country of Canada. The report said that we assess that cyber threat actors sponsored by the Government of India may conduct cyber threat activity against Government of Canada networks for the purpose of espionage. It further said that the official bilateral relations between Canada and India would lead to cyber threat activity sponsored by the Indian government against Canada. This is a new attack by the Trudeau government against India. Earlier in October, Canada had declared Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma as a person of interest in the Hardeep Singh Nijjar murder case, after which India recalled six diplomats including Verma. Along with this, New Delhi also expelled six Canadian diplomats. India had termed these allegations as absurd and called it a step taken to please Justin Trudeau’s domestic vote bank. The report said India’s leadership almost certainly desires to build a modern cyber program with domestic cyber capabilities and is very likely to use its cyber program to enhance national security imperatives, including espionage, Counter-terrorism, efforts to enhance its global standing and promote counter-narratives against India and the Indian government.
