Earlier, a person who returned to Kerala from Dubai was found infected with monkeypox. The 38-year-old man is undergoing treatment in Malappuram district. At the same time, on September 9, the first patient of monkeypox was confirmed in the country. The Union Health Ministry had said that a person who had returned from abroad was kept in isolation on September 8 on suspicion of monkeypox.
Central government has issued advisory
The Union Health Ministry has issued an advisory to the states to control the case of monkeypox. The Central Government has said that states should take health action to ensure that monkeypox cases do not occur. At the same time, all states should review the preparedness of their health facilities.
The World Health Organization declared monkeypox a global public health emergency on August 14. This is the second time in two years that WHO has declared a health emergency regarding monkeypox. The first case of Covid-19 in the country was also reported in Kerala.
