At least three innocent children were killed when a toy bomb exploded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, one of Pakistan’s most restive areas.
Two real brothers were also among those who died. It is being told that the children were returning from Madrasa and on the way, they picked up a suspicious object, thinking it was a toy.
The children were walking tossing the toy when it exploded. Even before, innocent children have lost their lives due to such toy bombs.
This sensational incident took place in Jani Khel area of Wazir subdivision of Bannu.
According to local sources, the children were returning home from the madrassa when a mortar shell exploded and three students, including two brothers, were killed. The mortar shell was lying in a deserted area.
The children picked it up thinking it was a toy, which resulted in a massive explosion. There is mourning in the area after the incident.
Innocent people have lost their lives like this before
In the past too, many children have lost their lives while playing with such “toys”. These ‘toys’ were found to be explosive devices upon investigation. Such incidents are mostly being reported in North-Western Pakistan only.
It is noteworthy that “toy” bombs were dropped by the Soviet military in the 1980s in neighboring Afghanistan to be used as weapons against people opposing their invasion.
