India on Thursday once again successfully flight tested the Pinak weapon system, achieving great success.
The Defense Ministry said in a statement that during these tests, the rockets were extensively tested to meet the Provisional Staff Qualitative Requirements (PSQR) parameters, such as ranging, accuracy, stability and salvo mode (salvo is the simultaneous use of artillery or firearms). (which involves firing cannons to engage a target) has measured the hit rate at a number of targets.
12 rockets were tested
The statement further said that the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has successfully completed flight trials of the Pinaka guided weapon system as part of the PSQR validation test. The Defense Ministry confirmed that a total of twelve rockets were test-fired from two in-service Pinak launchers upgraded by launcher production agencies.
What is Pinaka weapon?
Pinaka weapon system will prove fatal for the enemies. Its firepower has increased tremendously. Now it can hit targets accurately within a radius of 25 meters up to a distance of 75 kilometers. Its speed is 1000-1200 meters per second, i.e. one kilometer in one second. It is impossible to stop it after it fires. Earlier the range of Pinak was 38 kilometers, which will now increase to 75 kilometers. Its accuracy has also been many times better than before.
this is special
– Multi-barrel rocket system Pinak consists of two pods, with a battery of six launch vehicles.
– It can fire all 12 rockets in salvo mode within just 44 seconds, i.e. one rocket every 4 seconds.
– Its loader system, radar and network based systems are connected with a command post.
– Presently it is of two types. The first is Mark I which has a range of 40 kilometers and the second is Mark-II which has a range of 75 kilometers.
Rajnath said- Army’s strength will increase
Flight trials were conducted in three phases at different field firing ranges. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has praised DRDO and the Indian Army for the successful trials and said that the induction of this guided Pinak weapon system will further increase the artillery firepower of the armed forces.
France and Armenia showed interest
The Pinaka rocket launcher is considered equivalent to the US’s HIMARS system and has been India’s first major defense export. Actually, the war fighting Armenia had given us its first order. Now France has also shown interest in this rocket system.
China-Pakistan’s anxiety will increase
Pinaka rocket launcher is already being used by the Indian Army. It has been deployed on the Pakistan and China border. With the increase in its capacity, the anxiety of both the countries will also increase.
