Gandhidham. Ten packets of 12 kg of cocaine have been recovered from the river area near Gandhidham town in Kutch district of Gujarat. The value of these packets in the international market is Rs 120 crore. Police gave this information on Monday. Kutch-East Superintendent of Police Sagar Bagmar said, initial investigation by the police suggests that the smugglers hid the drugs on the banks of the river to avoid the fear of arrest. Bagmar said, based on a confidential information, police searched the river bank area on Sunday night and recovered 10 drug packets, which contained cocaine. This cocaine was probably hidden by smugglers. Police said further investigation is underway.
In June this year, a joint team of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and local police had recovered 13 cocaine packets worth Rs 130 crore in the same area. In September last year, Kutch-East police had recovered 80 packets of cocaine of one kilogram each, whose total street value was Rs 800 crore, in the same river area.
