In view of the recent defeat in the Haryana Assembly elections, Congress is now taking steps with all its might.
Now an army of experienced leaders has been deployed in Maharashtra to closely examine and keep an eye on any kind of factionalism or excessive enthusiasm within the party.
These include three former Chief Ministers, two former Chief Ministers, one current Deputy Chief Minister and four current ministers. Congress on Tuesday appointed 11 senior observers for the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
Among these, the names of former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and party general secretary Sachin Pilot are prominent.
According to a release issued by the party’s Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal, Gehlot and Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara have been nominated for Mumbai and Konkan region, Bhupesh Baghel, former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Umang Singar for Vidarbha ( Supervisor of Amrati and Nagpur region has been appointed.
Apart from these, former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot and current minister in Telangana government Uttar Kumar Reddy have been appointed as senior observers for Marathwada region.
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh TS Singhdev and Karnataka government minister MB Patil have been made senior observers for West Maharashtra and Rajya Sabha member Syed Nasir Hussain and Telangana government minister Anusuiya Seethakka have been made senior observers for North Maharashtra region.
Congress general secretaries Mukul Wasnik and Avinash Pandey have been given the responsibility of senior coordinators for elections in Maharashtra.
For Jharkhand also, the party has appointed three leaders as observers. Among them, Lok Sabha MP from Bihar Tariq Anwar, former Congress President of West Bengal Adhir Ranjan Choudhary and Telangana Deputy CM Mallu Bhati Vikramarka have been made observers.
The party had made Ashok Gehlot and party treasurer Ajay Maken observers in the Haryana elections, where the party fell short of majority by winning 37 seats.
Party leaders were in great enthusiasm in Haryana. Congress has tried to correct its old mistake by making an accurate assessment of all these speculations and making people in-charge of small areas.
Let us tell you that the Election Commission has announced the dates of assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
In Maharashtra, voting will be held on November 20 for all 288 seats in one phase, while in Jharkhand, voting will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20.
Results will be declared in both the states on November 23. Apart from these, the Commission has also announced by-elections for 47 and two Lok Sabha seats in 15 states. (with language inputs)
