Congress continues to face setbacks before the Lok Sabha elections.
Now two MLAs from Arunachal Pradesh have separated from the party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Ahead of the elections in Arunachal Pradesh, two MLAs from the Congress as well as the National People’s Party (NPP) have also joined the ruling BJP.
Both Congress and NPP now have two MLAs each in the sixty-member Arunachal Pradesh Assembly. Senior Congress MLAs and former Union ministers Ninong Ering (Pasighat West seat) and Wanglin Lowangdang (Borduria-Bogapani constituency) and NPP’s Muchu Mithi (Roing Assembly) and Gokar Basar (Basar Assembly) at a function at the BJP state headquarters here. I joined the party. Chief Minister Pema Khandu also participated in this program.
With the inclusion of these four MLAs, BJP now has 53 MLAs in the House, while three independent MLAs are supporting the government from outside. This year, Lok Sabha and Assembly elections will be held simultaneously in Arunachal Pradesh.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said on social media platform ‘X’ that the inclusion of the MLAs will “further strengthen our base in their respective constituencies and in Arunachal Pradesh.” He said, ‘His joining the party is a testament to his belief in the principles of good governance supported by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.’ ‘Together, we look forward to continuing our commitment to the principles of inclusive growth and people-centric welfare,’ the Chief Minister said.
