There was a huge uproar in Kerala over a WhatsApp group of IAS officers.
It is reported that a group was formed, in which only ‘Mallu Hindu officers’ were included. However, the officer from whose number the group was formed has said that the mobile was hacked.
It is being said that this is the first time that separate groups have been formed on the basis of religion.
According to the report, many officers of Kerala cadre suddenly joined a new WhatsApp group on October 31, named ‘Mallu Hindu Officers.’ According to the report, the group comprised only Hindu officers of the cadre and was formed using the number of IAS officer K Gopalakrishnan.
According to the report, soon after the group was formed, objections were raised against it and it was said that it was against the principles of secularism.
However, the group was disbanded the very next day after its formation. According to the newspaper, Gopalakrishnan says that his phone was hacked. He also informed that many groups were formed without his consent.
It is reported that the officer has also lodged a complaint with the police in this regard. Speaking to the newspaper, a senior officer said, ‘There are many WhatsApp groups among officers, but forming a group on the basis of religion is new.’
He said that there are separate groups between junior and senior officers due to different services.
He informed that there are groups on many other subjects including language, but forming a group on the basis of religion has never happened before.
A senior official told the newspaper that some of the officers added to the group had informed the agency.
It is reported that these officers also presented evidence, after which the agency took action and prepared a report. At present, intelligence agencies at the state and central levels are investigating this matter.
