Country’s first largest battery energy storage in Chhattisgarh… – NNSP

This excellent model of solar energy is established in Rajnandgaon district.

Facility of power supply from the plant even at night

Production of more than 5 lakh units of electricity per day

Reduction of about 4.5 lakh metric tons of carbon emissions and promotion of green energy.

The country’s largest, Battery Energy Storage System based solar power plant has been installed in the hilly area of 4-5 villages around Gram Dhaba on Dongargarh Road in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh.

There will be facility of power supply even at night through the battery system installed with the plant.

This will generate more than 5 lakh units of electricity per day and reduce about 4.5 lakh metric tonnes of carbon emissions, this will encourage green energy.

The work of setting up on-grid solar power plant in Rajnandgaon was handed over by CREDA to Solar Corporation of India (SECI) and Chhattisgarh Power Distribution Company.

This company completed the plant installation work and made it operational on 01 February 2024. This is the country’s first on-grid solar system, in which a 100 MW solar plant has been installed.

The main feature of this plant is that a total of 2 lakh 39 thousand bifacial solar panels of 660 watt capacity have been installed in it, through which electricity is being generated through solar energy received from both sides of the panel.

Its total project cost is Rs 960 crore, which will be achieved in the next seven years by generating electricity from solar energy.

More than 5 lakh units of electricity are being produced per day through this park, which is reducing about 4.5 lakh metric tons of carbon emissions and promoting green energy.

This project will be seen as an excellent model in the field of solar energy in the country and the state. Also, work is being done on many such projects by CREDA.

It is noteworthy that Chhattisgarh government has decided to establish the first solar park of the country and the state with a view to make better use of the Baron hill area of Rajnandgaon district.

This ambitious plan of the government started in the year 2016. Under this, the work of setting up a solar park in two phases was proposed by Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) for the establishment of grid connected mega size solar power plant and for this a total of 626.822 hectares of government land of 17 villages was demanded. In which a total of 377.423 hectares of land of 09 villages was allotted by the District Administration, Rajnandgaon.

In the first phase of solar park establishment, a total of 181.206 hectares of government land was surveyed and allotted to 05 villages (16 Khasras), which mainly included village Dhaba, Kohka, Rengakathera, Dundera, Amlidih tehsil and Dongargaon and in the second phase, 04 villages were allotted. Allotment was obtained after surveying 196-217 hectares of government land. These mainly included villages Odarbandh, Girgaon, Tolagaon, Ghughuwa tehsil Dongargaon.
