A nationwide literacy week is being organized from 1 to 8 September 2024 with the aim of spreading awareness about the Ullas Nav Bharat Literacy Program implemented under the National Education Policy 2020 and to promote education among all sections of the society.
During this period, various programmes will be organised focusing on education and literacy. The concluding day of the Literacy Week will be celebrated on 8 September as International Literacy Day.
School Education Secretary Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi said that during this literacy week, various programmes will be organised across the country, in districts, blocks, urban areas and gram panchayats as well as in the educational institutions of the state.
Through this program, focus will be on basic literacy, critical life skills, vocational skills, and continuing education.
Under the Literacy Week programme, on the first day, i.e., 1st September, the Ullas Rath will be dispatched and various seminars and conferences will be organised in educational institutions. On the second day, i.e., 2nd September, various competitions such as song, dance, painting etc. will be organised in all educational institutions centered on the theme ‘Education for All’. On the third day, i.e., 3rd September, discussions on the Ullas programme and cultural programmes will be organised in Panchayati Raj institutions and urban bodies.
Similarly, on the fourth day, i.e., 4th September, Ullas programme focused on women literacy and exhibition of material based on vocational skills, on the fifth day, i.e., 5th September, speech and essay competitions will be organised in educational institutions on the theme of Ullas Navbharat Literacy, on the sixth day, i.e., 6th September, exhibition of innovative activities and programme focused on continuing education, on the seventh day, 7th September, Ullas Literacy Rally will be organised in educational institutions and on the last day, 8th September, state level Ullas Fair and International Literacy Day will be organised.
