Bhubaneswar. Several cracks have appeared on the iconic boundary wall that surrounds the Puri Jagannath temple in Odisha, raising concerns over its safety. The Odisha government has sought assistance from the Archaeological Survey of India to repair the cracks. According to the information, the waste water of Anandabazar, famous for food offerings inside the temple, is seeping through the cracks of Meghnad Pacheri, causing damage to the structure built in the 12th century. Additionally, algae spots have spread on parts of the wall, indicating persistent moisture. Heritage conservationists have urged detailed assessment and restoration measures to begin immediately. He expects the state government and the temple administration to cooperate on a comprehensive plan to prevent further damage and ensure the preservation of this important part of Odisha’s cultural and religious heritage.
Devotees insist on immediate repair
Devotees and sevadars have expressed their concern over the condition of the wall and insisted on its immediate repair. These cracks are gradually weakening the structure. Srimandir temple administration head Arvind Padhi expressed his concern over the current situation. The temple administration has started cleaning work at the Meghnad border wall (Meghand Pacheri) amid concerns of water leakage. At the same time, the temple administration has demanded immediate intervention in the matter.
