New York. There has been a consensus to build separate crematoriums for Hindus in 15 states of America. Koyna New Jersey Assembly has given permission in favor of Bill 4216. After the passing of this bill, permission will be granted to open separate crematoriums in the state.
At present, cremation grounds in America are limited to cemeteries only. All these cemeteries are associated with the Christian community. The crematoriums that are currently there for Hindus, funerals cannot be performed according to Hindu customs.
Most Hindus live in New Jersey. The Democratic government is going to pass a bill in which every party has supported it. Right now in America cremation cannot be done in the open using wood. Now there will be a separate arrangement. Now cremation can be done using fire in America. The Hindu community has now got land for community ghats in various states. Soon the cremation grounds in 15 states will belong to the Hindus themselves.
