The crisis against the government of Maldives President Mohammed Muizzu is deepening.

There is news that preparations are underway to bring a no-confidence motion against his government in the country.

Here, it is being said that the Indian Government has summoned the High Commissioner of Maldives and asked Muizzu to intervene in this matter. Three deputy ministers in the Maldives government had made objectionable comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Minority leader Ali Azim has appealed for the removal of Muizzu on social media platform ‘X’. He wrote, ‘We Democrats are committed to maintaining the stability of the country’s foreign policy and keeping any neighboring country from being isolated.

Do you wish to remove President Mohammad Muizzu from power? Is MDP ready to vote in the no-confidence motion?

Earlier, former Deputy Speaker of Maldives Eva Abdullah had also termed the statements against PM Modi as shameful. While talking to NDTV, he said, ‘Indians are justified in being angry.

The comments made were extremely derogatory. However, these statements in no way reflect the opinion of the Maldivian public. I personally apologize to the people of India for the shameful statements.

Former Vice President also demanded apology
Former Maldivian Vice President Ahmed Adeeb on Monday termed the derogatory comments against the Indian Prime Minister as ‘unacceptable’ and said the Maldivian government should have apologised.

He also said that President Mohammad Muizzu should have resolved the diplomatic crisis by talking to the Indian leader.

All three ministers suspended
However, on Sunday itself Maldives took action and suspended the three Deputy Ministers. These include the names of Malsha Sharif, Maryam Shiuna and Abdullah Mahjoom Majid.

Not only this, the Maldives government had also distanced itself from the statements given by the three and said that these were their personal views.
