Hanoi. Powerful cyclone ‘Yagi’ is wreaking havoc in Vietnam. Cyclone ‘Yagi’ caused so much rain that the northern region of Vietnam was flooded. So far 16 people have been reported dead in the floods caused by cyclone Yagi while many are missing. Due to the flood conditions, thousands of people were found stranded on the roofs of their houses.
With the death of 16 people in the floods, the death toll has risen to 141 on Wednesday, while a large number of people are still missing. According to people, cyclone ‘Yagi’ has caused so much rain that such a flood has occurred for the first time in decades. Due to this, the Red River is in full spate. The banks of the river have become completely submerged, due to which the people living there are being sent to safer places.
Local media reported that Lang Nu village in Lao Cai province was devastated by floodwaters flowing from the mountain. 35 families lived in this village. After the flood, rescue workers have recovered the bodies of 16 people while the search for about 40 people is ongoing.
Due to this storm in northern Vietnam, a bridge built on the Red River also collapsed, causing many bikes and cars to fall into the river. The video of the bridge collapse is becoming very viral on social media. After this incident, 13 people are reported to be missing while rescue workers are engaged in rescue operations. Storm ‘Yagi’ is the most powerful storm to hit Vietnam in decades.
