Patna. The number of people who died after drinking poisonous liquor in Saran and Siwan districts has increased to more than 37. Apart from this, the condition of 12 people is said to be critical. In Siwan district, maximum deaths have occurred in Maghar village of Bhagwanpur block and its surrounding villages. The villagers said that due to the negligence of the administration, the mafia is selling liquor. Due to which people have died on such a large scale today.
Manmohan Mishra, head of Maghar Panchayat, said that on the morning of October 16, he received information that Mohan Mahato of the village was unable to see. On receiving the information, they reached Mohan Mahato’s house and asked whether he had consumed alcohol. On this the family members told that yes he drank alcohol. After this he was sent to the hospital. After some time, the health of another young man was reported to be deteriorating and he was also sent to the hospital. After this, people kept falling ill and started going to the hospital. After this there was an uproar in the village. Those who died after drinking poisonous liquor in Maghar Panchayat include Munna Mian, Dara Manjhi, Santosh Kumar, Mohan Sah, Prabhunath Ram, Ramu, Bui Sah and Vinay Mahato. Those admitted to the hospital include Shailesh Shah, Dinesh Ram, Manoj Mahato, Jaishankar Sharma, Sunardev Rai, Bhola Sharm, Maqbool Hashmi, Sunil Nat and Shailesh Yadav. All the deceased are daily laborers. The people of Maghar village said that liquor is being supplied secretly everywhere. Laborers start looking for alcohol in the evening after getting tired from work. When they get it easily, they will drink it. People said that if the administration had been strict, such a situation would not have happened. After the liquor scandal, the administration team is continuously visiting Maghar village. On Thursday evening, the Secretary of Prohibition Department arrived along with DM and SP of Siwan. Took information after talking to the relatives of the deceased. The health department team is also conducting door-to-door investigations.
