Delhi MCD’s action, 84 factories sealed… 7’s lights switched off

New Delhi . Delhi Municipal Corporation has sealed 84 factories in violation of rules and stopped the power supply of seven. The MCD official said the action was taken to prevent industrial pollution and control illegal operations in non-commercial areas.

In September, MCD inspected 520 industrial units located in non-commercial areas. Where 70 percent of the plots are used for industrial purposes under zoning rules. In this, 84 units were sealed due to violation of rules. There are 27 non-conforming or unplanned industrial areas in Delhi. In this, mainly Rithala area of North-West Delhi is given special attention.

Regarding the increase in pollution level in Yamuna river due to these industries, it was said that all polluting industries, no matter where they are located, contribute to the pollution of Yamuna. MCD is working extensively against such industries. Whether they are around Yamuna or not does not matter much. Despite these efforts, the water of Yamuna continues to stink due to untreated waste from factories and sewage being released into it. There is growing concern about toxic foam and severe pollution in the river.
