A surprising case has come to light from the country’s capital Delhi. Here, Delhi Police on Tuesday (October 29) claimed to have arrested a 38-year-old builder on charges of defrauding 485 flat buyers of more than Rs 300 crore in Gurugram. During this, Delhi Police officials said that Varun Puri was wanted in at least 45 cases of fraud and a reward of Rs 1 lakh was kept for his arrest.
According to The Times of India report, Delhi Police officials said that a court had declared him a fugitive in a fraud case. According to a senior police officer, Varun Puri was arrested from Indore, Madhya Pradesh on October 25. After which the Special Cell team of Delhi Police interrogated him further.

A senior Delhi Police officer said that Universal Buildwell Private Limited had launched a project in the name of Universal Aura in Sector-92 of Gurugram. Where a promise was made to provide flats to the flat buyers by the year 2010. On which Varun, owner of Universal Buildwell Private Limited Company, his brother Vikram and his father Raman collected an amount of more than Rs 300 crore from 485 home buyers. However, even after a lot of time had passed, the company did not hand over the flats to the buyers.
EOW registered 5 cases against accused builders
After this the buyers filed several cases against the directors of the company in various police stations of Delhi-NCR. A senior Delhi Police officer said that five cases were also registered in the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police.

At present, considering the sensitivity of the case, Delhi Police has announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh each on the arrest of Varun Puri, Vikram Puri and Raman Puri.
