Tension in the Middle East has reached its peak after the killing of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon recently.
Iran has opened a direct front against Israel and is making full preparations for revenge. Meanwhile, discussions began on the next chief of Hezbollah, in which the name of Hashim Saffieddin came up.
Now a report has come out that Nasrallah’s possible successor Hashim was also killed by Israel in Beirut. He lost his life in the same attack in which Nasrallah was killed.
Saudi news outlet Al Hadath has claimed that Israel has also confirmed Hashim’s death. However, till now no such statement has come out publicly from Israel in which his death has been confirmed.
Israeli media, citing Lebanese sources, reported that Israel reportedly targeted Hashim in the Dahieh suburb of Beirut on the night between Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, Israel said it had targeted Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters in the southern suburbs and was assessing the damage after a series of attacks on senior figures in the group.
American media portal Axios quoted three Israeli officials as saying that Hashim Saffieddine was targeted in an underground bunker in Beirut on Thursday night.
Lebanon’s government said more than 2,000 people have been killed there in the past year, most of them in the past two weeks.
Attacks on medical teams and facilities, including the Lebanese Red Cross, Lebanese public hospitals, and rescue workers affiliated with Hezbollah, have also increased. The Lebanese government says more than 1.2 million Lebanese people have been forced from their homes, and the United Nations says most displacement shelters in the country are full.
Many had fled north to Tripoli or neighboring Syria, but an Israeli attack on Friday closed the main border crossing between Lebanon and Syria.
Hamas officer killed in Israeli attack
At the same time, Hamas officer Saeed Atalla Ali and his family have been killed in an Israeli attack on a refugee camp in northern Lebanon. Hamas gave this information on Saturday.
This attack took place early in the morning. Israel on Tuesday started ground operations against the extremist organization Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The Israeli army informed that nine soldiers have been killed in clashes in southern Lebanon. There has been almost daily firing on the Lebanon border between Israel and Hezbollah since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023.
The Hamas attack killed 1,200 Israeli civilians and took 250 others hostage.
