DGP-IG conference begins in Odisha to brainstorm on national security

The All India Conference of Directors General of Police and Inspectors General of Police was inaugurated on Friday in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Issues related to national security and internal security will be discussed in the three-day conference running from November 29 to December 1. Issues like terrorism, left-wing extremism, coastal security, new criminal laws and fight against drugs will also be discussed.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in this conference on 30th and 1st December. Besides, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also attend the conference. The objective of this conference is to bring together senior police officers and security administrators on one platform to address internal security challenges and work on strategies. The conference is a platform for senior police officers and security administrators where they can freely discuss issues related to national security. Along with this, they will also be able to talk about various problems like operations, infrastructure and welfare in the police.

Along with this, they will also share their professional experiments and procedures regarding various internal security issues as well as crime control and law and order in the conference. President’s Police Medal will also be awarded to those who have done distinguished service in the conference.

This time many new features have been included in the conference. It also included yoga sessions, business sessions, break out sessions and theme based dinner tables apart from discussion sessions throughout the day. During this, senior police officers will get an opportunity to present their ideas and suggestions to the Prime Minister regarding serious policing and internal security of the country.

The Prime Minister has been continuously encouraging the conference of Directors General of Police and Inspectors General of Police since 2014. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has keen interest in the DGP conference. He not only listens to the views of all participants. Rather, they provide an open environment for formal discussion and new ideas. So far the conference has been organized in Guwahati, Rann of Kutch, Hyderabad, Tekanpur Gwalior, Statue of Unity Kevadiya Gujarat, Pune, Lucknow, New Delhi and Jaipur.
