New revelations are continuously emerging in the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
Recently, a report by Kyiv Post claimed that about 6 North Korean soldiers have been killed in an air strike in the Russian-held area near Donetsk.
Any such report was completely rejected by Russia.
Responding to the question raised on this matter, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that this seems like another fake news. However, he refused to give details on this matter.
A Kyiv Post report released this week claimed that at least six North Korean soldiers have been killed in Ukrainian airstrikes.
On this matter, South Korea’s Defense Minister Kim Yong Hyundai said that considering the circumstances and the relations between the two countries, it is possible that there may be North Korean soldiers in the fighting area of Ukraine.
He said that there are similar military alliance agreements between Russia and North Korea, so it becomes more likely that dictator Kim Jong Un may have ordered the deployment of troops there to help his friendly nation.
Initially questions were being raised on this report, but the credibility of this report increased further when Andrey Kovalenko, head of Ukraine Counting Disinformation Center, wrote on Telegram on Saturday that there is presence of North Korean combat engineers in the Donetsk region.
Is North Korea helping Russia?
Given the friendship between North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin, it is not surprising that North Korean troops have a presence in Ukraine.
But if this claim is true then it would be the first time that a foreign government has sent its soldiers to fight in the war between Ukraine and Russia.
Russia and China, countries isolated by US sanctions, help North Korea on a large scale, so it is possible that Kim Jong may have soldiers there.
People knowledgeable about this matter have been saying for a long time that North Korea is deploying its missiles on Russian soil to help Russia.
Although both the countries have been denying this. South Korea has also claimed that North Korea has sent a large consignment of weapons to Russia to help it.
During Russian President Putin’s visit to North Korea in June this year, large-scale defense cooperation agreements were signed between the two countries.
