‘Dilli Chalo’ stopped for two days, farmer leader made a big announcement; What is the whole matter…

The ‘Dilli Chalo’ protest of the farmers who had set out to march to Delhi for their demands has been stopped for two days.

This was announced by Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee chief farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher in a press conference on Wednesday.

He said that the incident that happened in Khanauri will be discussed. There will be a halt of two days in our march towards Delhi.

Sarwan further said that we will clarify the entire situation later what will be our further movement. Thousands of farmers will remain stuck on both the borders during the halt in the yatra.

It is noteworthy that this announcement from the farmers has come after the Center appealed for another round of discussion.

Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda said that farmers are all over the country. While making any policy, it is important to keep in mind the interest of the farmers of the entire country. Keeping this in mind, we will work towards resolving their concerns in the coming days.

Earlier, after the failure of the fourth round of talks with the Central Government, the farmer organizations had restarted the Delhi Chalo Protest on Wednesday.

The government committee comprising three Union ministers had proposed procurement of pulses, maize and cotton crops at MSP by government agencies for five years after entering into contracts with farmers. But farmer leaders rejected the proposal.

Earlier, Rakesh Tikait, national spokesperson of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), on Wednesday said on stopping the farmers going to Delhi for their various demands, that if they (government) are not allowing the farmers to come to Delhi, then the farmers will also oppose them in the elections. Will not be allowed to come to the village.

There was a demonstration on behalf of BKU at the district headquarters in Meerut on various demands including legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP), payment of outstanding sugarcane price, withdrawal of cases registered against farmers.
