Second convocation of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)

President Smt. Draupadi Murmu today awarded gold medals and degrees to 10 students of the institute and degrees to 514 students in the second convocation ceremony of AIIMS Raipur. On this occasion, he said that the work of a medical professional is very responsible, his decisions are related to saving life.

He expressed hope that the doctors and paramedical students passing out from here will discharge this responsibility and accountability with full dedication and ability. He congratulated the students who received degrees and fellowships and wished them a bright future.

On this occasion, Governor Shri Ramen Deka, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Chairman of AIIMS Raipur Prof. George A D’Souza, Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS, Lieutenant General Ashok Kumar Jindal along with doctors and students of AIIMS Raipur were present.

President Smt. Murmu further said in her address that when you all have chosen medical as your field of work, you must have had a feeling of compassion and sympathy in your mind.

You have to always remember that kindness, compassion, empathy strengthen human values. Therefore always work with these life values ​​in your work area.

President Smt. Murmu said that the Government of India is making efforts to provide health facilities to all the citizens of the country. In the last decade, many steps were taken to provide Universal Health Card to the countrymen.

A large number of citizens are getting benefits under Ayushman Bharat Scheme. Affordable and quality medicines are being made available through Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana. Medical college, MBBS and PG seats have also increased in the last 10 years. New AIIMS have also been established.

He said that along with providing excellent medical facilities, AIIMS Raipur is also eliminating malnutrition and running Sickle Cell Clinic. He said that latest technology should be used for public welfare. AIIMS Raipur is also working on Artificial Intelligence, ongoing clinical diseases and support systems.

This will provide real-time help to doctors in remote areas in emergency situations and improve community health. We have set a target of making India a developed nation by the year 2047. Your actions will play a decisive role in making a developed nation.

On this occasion, Governor Shri Ramen Deka wished all the graduating students a bright future and wished them a successful career.

He said that from today onwards you will be a ray of hope for the people. Referring to the achievements of AIIMS Raipur, he said that this institute has achieved excellence in healthcare and medical education in Chhattisgarh as well as in the entire country.

AIIMS Raipur achieving 38th position in the national ranking in 2024 is an example of this. This institute has worked to bring smiles on the faces of the people of Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh.

He also praised the high-level health services provided to the patients here during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Governor appreciated the successful implementation of schemes like Ayushman Bharat Yojana and said that this scheme has further enhanced the dignity of the institution.

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, while welcoming President Smt. Draupadi Murmu on behalf of 3 crore people of Chhattisgarh, said that it is a matter of pride that the talents of medical and engineering institutions located in this tribal state are completing their initiation in your presence. He said that in the field of higher education, almost all the renowned institutions of the country are located in Chhattisgarh.

These institutions are the torches that show the way to the future of the state. Most of these institutions have been given to Chhattisgarh on the interest and initiative of the famous Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

AIIMS Raipur is a boon for the people of Chhattisgarh as well as Maharashtra and Odisha. This institute has earned name across the country for its system and expertise.

The Chief Minister said that improving health services in Chhattisgarh is our priority. Recruitment of doctors and medical staff is being done on a large scale in the state. Hospital buildings are being improved.

Arrangements for modern equipment are also being made. Building expansion and development of facilities has been started in Medical College Hospital Raipur and SIMS Bilaspur. The process has been started by making a provision of Rs 1020 crore 60 lakh for the construction of buildings of 4 new medical colleges of the state.

The state government has decided to conduct MBBS education in Chhattisgarh in Hindi also, this will increase the opportunities for medical education especially for the children of rural and tribal areas. Our government hospitals are also fully prepared to contribute in making Chhattisgarh the medical hub of Central India.

We are committed to extend the health services and facilities of the state to the last person in the inaccessible areas.
