Dog hanged from a tree and beaten, case registered against mother and son

Pune. A case has been registered against a mother and son for killing a dog by hanging it from a tree in Pune district of Maharashtra. Giving information, the police said that on Thursday, a dog was allegedly killed by a mother and son in Pirangut area of ​​Mulshi tehsil, after which a case has been registered against Prabhavati Jagtap and the woman’s son Omkar Jagtap.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray mentioned the incident on social media. Animal rights activist Padmini Stump of ‘Mission Possible Foundation’, which runs a shelter for dogs, contacted Pune Rural Police and lodged a complaint against the mother and son.

Paud Road police said that on October 22, Prabhavati allegedly beat her pet dog of ‘Labrador’ breed with a stick. After this his son Omkar hanged the dog from a tree. A case has been registered against them under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The officer said that before killing the dog, the family had called a woman resident of Pimpri and asked her to take the dog away. He said that earlier the family had taken the dog to the vet and they were asked to undergo some tests including rabies. He said that he thought the dog had rabies, which is why the mother and son had beaten it.
