Washington. Political tensions are increasing in the US presidential election. Former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party’s presidential candidate have directly threatened people. Trump has threatened people including lawyers, politicians and activists that if he wins the election in November and people are found to be involved in fraud or dishonest behavior in connection with voting, then a case will be filed against them.
Trump posted a statement on X saying that voting is going to start in some states in the coming weeks. He threatened that if he becomes president for a second term in January, he will use the power of the government against such people. Trump further said that I, along with lawyers and legal scholars, am watching the sanctity of the 2024 presidential election very closely because I, better than anyone, know the massive fraud committed by the Democrats in the 2020 presidential election. Trump said in his post that it was a disgrace to our nation. Therefore, the 2024 election for which votes are yet to be cast will be under professional investigation and when I win, those people will be prosecuted including long-term prison sentences so that this corruption does not happen again.
Trump further wrote in the post, “We cannot allow our country to turn into a third world nation and we will not do that. Be aware that this legal risk extends to lawyers, political activists, donors, illegal voters and corrupt election officials. Those involved in dishonesty will be sought out, caught and prosecuted, which unfortunately has never happened before in our country.” Trump has repeatedly called for prosecution of those he believes have wronged him. After being indicted by the federal government for the first time in 2023, Trump vowed to hire a special prosecutor who would take action against President Biden and his family if he wins the presidency in 2024.
