Washington. The District Court of Columbia, USA has said that it has resumed hearing the case against former US President Donald Trump for interfering in the presidential election and has fixed the date of next hearing for August 16.
The resumption of the hearings is related to the Supreme Court’s ruling in July, which refused to recognize Trump’s blanket immunity from prosecution for his actions while president. The president is immune only for actions he takes in an official capacity, but some of the charges he faces do not fall under this definition.
Trump had previously asked all courts to dismiss the cases against him. According to the decision, Trump will be able to appeal those decisions once the court decides what comes under immunity.
