Don’t know about Amethi, but Rahul Gandhi is sure to contest Lok Sabha elections from Wayanad seat…

Before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, many speculations are being made regarding the seat of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Presently Rahul Gandhi is the Congress Lok Sabha MP from Wayanad seat of Kerala. It is certain that he will contest the next election from this seat. A Congress leader has confirmed this.

However, nothing is yet known about his former seat Amethi. Congress MP K. Muraleedharan on Friday said former party president Rahul Gandhi will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Wayanad constituency. Muraleedharan said all sitting MPs from Kerala, except Kannur, are expected to contest from their current constituencies.

Earlier, from 2004 to 2014, Rahul Gandhi had been a Lok Sabha MP from Amethi seat in Rae Bareli district of Uttar Pradesh for three consecutive terms.

But in the 2019 elections, he lost to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Smriti Irani. Rahul Gandhi had contested elections from both Amethi and Wayanad in 2019. He had won from Wayanad.

Congress MP K. Muraleedharan told reporters here, “I believe this is the system till now. Rahul Gandhi will contest from Wayanad and there is no change in it.”

Muraleedharan did not pay much attention to the issues going on in the opposition alliance ‘India’ regarding West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He said, “There is no problem in the opposition alliance ‘India’. When he comes to the Centre, everyone will unite against the Bharatiya Janata Party.”

Will Rahul Gandhi contest from Amethi also?

In November last year, the UP Congress chief had announced that Rahul Gandhi would contest the Lok Sabha elections from Amethi. Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee President Ajay Rai had said that Rahul Gandhi will contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Amethi constituency. “He has been working for the people of Amethi for generations,” Rai said at a press conference in Mumbai.

Rahul ji will definitely contest from Amethi.” However, later speaking to Times of India, Ajay Rai clarified that what he meant was that the people of Amethi want Rahul to contest from there.
