Dehradun. Now in Uttarakhand, there will be strict action against those who drive indiscriminately after drinking alcohol. The transport department will not only issue vehicle challan against such drivers, but is also going to take action to directly cancel the driving license of the driver. RTO (Enforcement) Shailesh Tiwari said that action will be taken to cancel the driving license directly in six offenses related to road safety prescribed by the Supreme Court. In these crimes, earlier the license was suspended for three months or six months, but now action will be taken to cancel the license. Not only this, the driver concerned will not be able to apply for a new license for 12 months. RTO said that 1800 DLs have been suspended from January to August this year. RTO said that those found guilty of drunken driving, reckless speeding and dangerous driving will not be given an opportunity of hearing in the cancellation action taken against their license. However, the rule of suspending the license for three months for not wearing a helmet on a two-wheeler and riding a triple will remain the same as before.
