Former Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu has claimed that drugs are being sold in the jails of the state.
He said on Saturday that if his statement was proved wrong, he would leave politics. Sidhu accused Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of not taking action regarding this matter.
He said, ‘The High Court has asked to make a policy on this issue within a week. CM Mann himself is the Jail Minister. After all what did they do? Drug tablets are being sold inside the jail. If I am proven a liar, I will not do politics.
Navjot Singh Sidhu has returned after spending 10 months in jail. In fact, in the 1988 road rage case, the Supreme Court had sentenced him to 1 year rigorous imprisonment.
It is known that Gurnam Singh, a resident of Patiala, had died in this incident. In view of Sidhu’s good conduct during his imprisonment, he was released before the end of his jail term.
Sidhu has made allegations regarding the sale of drugs inside jails at a time when the Punjab and Haryana High Court has given important instructions on this matter.
The court has asked the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to file a status report on people suffering from drug addiction in both the states.
..That’s why Center withheld 8 thousand crores, what did Sidhu say?
Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu also targeted the Mann government over the rising debt and law and order situation in Punjab. He alleged that the state government was not using central funds for the intended purposes.
For this reason, the Center has stopped funds worth Rs 8,000 crore for Punjab. Sidhu said that the state government does not have money left even to give its 40% share in the central scheme. These things explain the poor economic condition of the state.
