Election Commission’s press conference today at 3 pm, dates for assembly elections may be announced


नई दिल्ली ।   निर्वाचन आयोग आज (शुक्रवार को) तीन बजे प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस कर कुछ राज्यों में विधानसभा चुनाव की तारीखों का एलान करेगा। चुनाव आयोग ने हाल ही में जम्मू-कश्मीर और हरियाणा का दौरा भी किया था। 

Announcement of election dates is possible in Haryana too

The term of the current government in Haryana is ending in November. The last elections were held here in 2019. Then BJP-JJP came together and formed the government. However, the alliance of the two parties broke in March this year. On the other hand, BJP removed Manohar Lal Khattar and appointed Nayab Singh Saini as the Chief Minister of Haryana.

The term of the government in Maharashtra ends in November

Apart from this, the tenure of the government in Maharashtra is ending in November this year. This politically most complicated state has a government led by Eknath Shinde. Here BJP is the biggest party in the alliance. Elections can also be announced today in Maharashtra which has 288 seats.

Elections may be announced in Jammu and Kashmir

It is worth noting that elections have not been held in Jammu and Kashmir since the dissolution of the government in 2018. The last elections in Jammu and Kashmir were held in 2014. Then the BJP-PDP had formed an alliance. However, later the BJP distanced itself from this alliance. In 2018, the coalition government of the BJP and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) fell.

Elections may also be announced in Jharkhand

The term of the current Hemant Soren government in Jharkhand is ending in January 2025. In such a situation, the Election Commission can announce assembly elections in this state as well. At present, there is a JMM-Congress coalition government in the Jharkhand Assembly with 81 MLAs. The ruling coalition has 48 MLAs, while the NDA has 32 MLAs.
