Iran is currently facing problems and power cuts are being done on a large scale. There are power cuts in both residential and commercial areas across the country. Now the President himself has termed this power cut as necessary and has said that it will continue. The President has said that if power cuts are not made in the country, we may face huge problems in winter. In the weekly cabinet meeting, the President told the media that if we do not think about this issue today, we will have to face serious danger in winter.
Advice given to adjust the power plant
President Masoud Pejeshkian said, there is less fuel in our country and due to this we may have to face a lot of problems in winter. Therefore, we will have to adjust the power plant now, so that problems can be avoided in the coming days. The energy crisis in Iran has become more serious this year. Due to this, the country is no longer able to supply mazut or diesel to the power plants. The PM said that instead of natural gas, we always provide mazut and diesel to power plants during peak cold season. But this year, due to the current shortage, we have reached such a situation where we are not able to provide even the required gas for the power plant.
Mazut will increase another problem
Iran faced a shortage of natural gas when blackouts occurred in the summer due to increasing electricity demand. This issue is ongoing and may disrupt power supply in winter. In such a situation, due to limited options, the government has started the controversial plan of either imposing power cuts or using Mazut in power plants. Mazut is a pollutant-fuel that can increase the risk of air pollution. In such a situation, the use of Majut can create new problems for Iran. However, officials have said that there is also a shortage of mazut and diesel in the country.
World’s second largest natural gas reserves
The amazing thing is that Iran has the second largest natural gas reserves in the world, yet it is struggling with the shortage of natural gas. The reason behind this is American sanctions. Due to which Iran is facing problems in extracting natural gas. US sanctions have limited Iran’s access to investment and advanced technology to extract natural gas. Due to this, Iran’s gas production is gradually decreasing.
There will be power cut from 9 to 5 pm
This week, electricity distribution companies in Tehran and other provinces of Iran have started scheduled power cuts from 9 am to 5 pm. This is being done to save fuel.
