After the immense success of Chandrayaan-3, ISRO has registered its name in golden numbers among the leading space agencies of the world.
After conquering the Moon, ISRO’s space flight is ready to go even higher. After Surya Mission, now preparations are going on for Gaganyaan Mission.
This will be India’s first manned mission. But, before this, ISRO has completed preparations to send a female robot into space.
It is very important for the mission for this female robot with human-like body and eyes and nose to go into space before Gaganyaan.
It is expected to fly in space by the first quarter of this year. ISRO is considering this as the most important step before Gaganyaan. ISRO Chief S Somnath himself has said that 2024 is the year of preparations for Gaganyaan.
India’s female robot astronaut Vyommitra will fly into space ahead of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO)’s ambitious Gaganyaan mission.
India’s Gaganyaan mission, the country’s first manned space flight carrying Indian astronauts, is scheduled to be launched in 2025.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Jitendra Singh said that the Vyommitra Mission is scheduled for the third quarter of this year.
what is vyommitra
The name of Indian female robot astronaut Vyommitra is made up of two Sanskrit words. Vyoma means space. And the second one is friend.
If understood in simple words, Vyommitra is the one who knows space better than common humans. Hence its name is space friend.
What is the link with Gaganyaan Mission?
Vyommitra has a very important role for the Gaganyaan mission. It will simulate all types of human activities in space. It will also work with environmental control and life support systems in space.
The robotic astronaut can monitor the module parameters of the Gaganyaan mission, issue alerts to it and carry out life-support operations, the Union Minister said.
It can also perform tasks like operating six panels and answering questions with ease.
Testing before Gaganyaan
It is noteworthy that before the launch of Gaganyaan mission in 2025, the first test vehicle flight was completed on October 21, 2023.
Its purpose was to test the efficiency of the crew escape system and parachute system. Human rating of the launch vehicle has been completed. All propulsion stages are qualified, and all preparations have been made.
