A new case of controversy regarding hijab has come to light in France.

This time French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal himself has taken the lead. Gabriel said that a case will be filed against a Muslim girl and she will be produced before the court.

He said that the girl had falsely accused her school principal of misbehavior over hijab. Actually the principal had asked the Muslim student to take off her hijab inside the school campus.

The girl alleged that the principal misbehaved with her during this period.

Speaking to TF1 television channel, the French Prime Minister said, “The country… will always stand with these officers. “These officers stand at the forefront of stopping these violations of secularism and countering these attempts at Islamic infiltration in our educational institutions.”

According to CNBC report, the matter pertains to a school in the capital Paris. Here the principal had insisted the student to remove her Muslim hijab on campus as per French law.

However, later he started receiving death threats on social media. Due to this he resigned from his post.

France has the largest number of Muslims in all of Europe. Secularism and religion have been major issues in France. Two teachers, Samuel Paty and Dominic Bernard, have been murdered in the past few years over similar cases. Since these killings authorities have taken the threat to French schools seriously.

In the latest case, the identity of the school principal has not been revealed. the principal wrote in an email to his colleagues last week. “I have finally decided to step down from my duties out of concern for my safety and that of the establishment,” he wrote.

The incident occurred on February 28 when he had asked three girl students to follow the rules and remove their hijab. Although two girl students agreed to his request, the third girl did not. After this there was a dispute between the two. Over the next few days, the school head started receiving death threats on social media.

Officials said that so far two people have been detained in the death threat case. Although their identities have not yet been revealed, the Education Ministry said they are not associated with the school.

After investigation, the authorities did not find any evidence that the principal had hit the student. Now, the Prime Minister of France has intervened and said that the student will be taken to court for making false allegations.
