Farmers have taken a tough stance after the death of a farmer in the ongoing farmers’ agitation for their demands including Minimum Support Price (MSP) of crops.
Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has announced to celebrate Black Day on Friday. At the same time, there will be a tractor march on the highways on 26th February, while a Mahapanchayat will be held on 14th March.
SKM leader Balbir Singh Rajewal said on Thursday that the family of the deceased farmer should get a compensation of Rs 1 crore. He demanded that a murder case be registered against Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal and Home Minister Anil Vij.
On the other hand, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said that the Punjab government should take action against the paramilitary force personnel of Haryana for damaging the tractor-trolleys. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal said, the government should give martyr status to farmer Shubhakaran.
Let us tell you that after four rounds of talks between the farmers’ organizations and the Central Government have remained inconclusive, the farmers have started making further strategies according to the programs to intensify their movement.
Apart from the legal guarantee for farmer MSP, farmers are demanding implementation of Swaminathan Commission recommendations, pension for farmers and agricultural labourers, farm loan waiver, withdrawal of police cases, justice for victims of Lakhimpuri Kheri violence, land. They are demanding reinstatement of the Acquisition Act 2013 and compensation for the families of farmers killed during the previous agitation.
It is noteworthy that Section 144 is in force in entire Delhi for a month and gathering of five or more people and any kind of demonstration with tractor-trolley has been banned.
