Farmers not ready to open Shambhu border, meeting remained inconclusive

Chandigarh. A meeting was held at Haryana Bhawan in Chandigarh on Monday to consider the demands of the farmers sitting at the Shambhu border. This meeting remained inconclusive and the farmers did not agree to open the Shambhu border of Haryana-Punjab. The meeting was presided over by retired Justice Nawab Singh. Farmer leaders Sarwan Singh Pandher and Jagjit Singh Dallewal, the prominent faces of the farmers’ movement, did not attend the meeting. The farmers presented their 12 demands before the committee formed by the Supreme Court. The farmers clearly said that their struggle will continue until their demands are met. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal said that I will start a hunger strike from the upcoming Parliament session. United Kisan Morcha leader Sarwan Singh Pandher had rejected the invitation of the committee. He said that the road has been blocked not by the farmers but by the Haryana government. Let us tell you that the farmers of Punjab are on strike since February 2024 regarding the guarantee of MSP on crops. In such a situation, keeping security in mind, the Haryana government had closed the Shambhu border of Haryana and Punjab by putting up barricades. Farmers have formed a permanent front on the border towards Punjab. Traffic is closed from there. Due to this the traders of Ambala are facing problems. For this reason he had taken refuge in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
