Provision of Rs 12 thousand crore in supplementary budget

A provision of Rs 12,000 crore has been made in the supplementary budget under the Krishak Unnati Yojana to make immediate payment to the farmers of the difference between the procurement price and the state government’s procurement price.
This amount will soon be given to the farmers.
Food Minister Baghel said that in the interest of farmers, Chief Minister Sai took a sensitive initiative and the date of paddy purchase was extended from January 31 to February 4, due to which a record number of farmers in Chhattisgarh were able to sell their paddy.
He said that to fulfill the guarantee of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chhattisgarh government purchased paddy from the farmers at the rate of 21 quintals per acre and fixed the procurement price of paddy for the farmers at Rs 3100 per quintal.
