The country’s Chief Justice (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud and other judges of the Supreme Court on Wednesday honored Pragya, a chef’s daughter and a law researcher.
Pragyan has won a scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies in Law from the University of California or the University of Michigan in the US.
Before the commencement of court work, the judges in the court premises gave a standing ovation to chef Ajay Kumar Samal’s daughter Pragya.
CJI Chandrachud gifted Pragya three books focused on the Indian Constitution, signed by all the judges of the Supreme Court. Pragya’s happiness on receiving honor from CJI was worth seeing. He expressed his gratitude to the CJI and other judges with folded hands.
What did the CJI say?
After felicitating the young lawyer, Chandrachud said, “We know that Pragya has achieved something on her own, but we will ensure that she is successful in achieving whatever is required… We hope That he should come back to serve the country.” Other judges also wished Pragya all the best for her future.
CJI honored Pragya’s parents
The Chief Justice honored Pragya’s mother and father by covering them with a shawl. On this occasion, 25 year old lawyer Pragya said that Chandrachud is an inspiration for her. He told PTI, “Everyone can see him (Justice Chandrachud) speaking from the live streaming of the court hearing. He encourages young lawyers and his words are like gems. He is my inspiration.”
