The court has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor daughter.
The matter is of Karnataka, where a fast track court has recently given this decision for the cases of POCSO i.e. Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act.
Apart from this, a fine of about Rs 2.5 lakh has also been imposed.
The incident took place in Rajajinagar of the capital Bengaluru. Justice KN Roopa was hearing this case. According to a media report, he said, ‘Father is the first hero for a daughter. In the present case the accused is the father of the victim and it is extremely unfortunate to see how the accused was involved in sexual assault against his own daughter. And that too for a very long time.
He further said, ‘She was threatened that if she told her mother about this, the consequences would be bad.’ The special thing is that the girl was 7 years old at the time of the incident.
Information has been given by the government lawyer that a fine of Rs 2.5 lakh has been imposed on the 44-year-old convict. Earlier, the accused was arrested on the complaint of the mother.
After his arrest, he was sent to judicial custody in Bengaluru Central Jail. Later he was granted bail. He was present in the court when the verdict was pronounced and he was immediately sent back to jail.
