New Delhi . Indian Air Force is going to take strict action against a senior fighter pilot. This fighter pilot has been accused of rape by a former civilian intern. Apart from this, the accused is also accused of violating security protocols at one of the major combat bases of the country. Two senior IAF officers have confirmed this development.
These allegations have been leveled against a 40-year-old Wing Commander, who is currently posted at Ambala Airbase in Haryana and serving in the Jaguar Fighter Squadron. A former trainee (25) of the Aerospace Safety Institute, an Indian Air Force unit based in Palam, has accused him of rape and criminal intimidation.
Two separate investigations were going on
The Indian Air Force has conducted two separate investigations against the officer. The first investigation was led by the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) of Air Force Station Ambala, which looked into security protocol violations. The chief of the Western Air Command in Delhi had initiated a second investigation, which focused on the rape allegations.
Took her to a hotel and sexually assaulted her!
Actually, the matter is of the year 2023. The intern claims that the officers took her to a hotel on the pretext of a stress assessment test and sexually assaulted her. In this case, along with the internal investigation of the Indian Air Force, Delhi Police has registered an FIR against the officer under rape and criminal intimidation.
Senior Wing Commander was also accused
The Indian Air Force is expected to take decisive disciplinary action based on the outcome of these investigations. Besides, senior military officers will also keep a close eye on this matter. This development comes at a time when a few weeks ago, a woman Air Force officer had accused a senior wing commander at the Srinagar Air Force base of rape and sexual harassment.
