Chittagong. A flood of Hindus were seen on the streets of Bangladesh on Saturday demanding security and rights. Hindu minorities organized a massive rally in Chittagong under the leadership of Sanatan Jagran Manch on eight major demands. The activists said that the protests would continue until the Bangladesh government met their demands. Writer Taslima Nasreen also reacted to this by posting a video on X.
Sanatan Jagran Manch raised eight issues during the rally. He said that a tribunal should be formed to prosecute those involved in crimes against minorities. The victims should be compensated and rehabilitated. Along with this, Minority Protection Act should be implemented. Ministry of Minority Affairs should be formed.
Prayer places and worship rooms for minorities should be built in educational institutions and hostels. Priority should be given to Hindu, Buddhist and Christian welfare trusts. Also, the Transfer of Property Act should be implemented. Apart from this, there was a demand for modernization of Pali and Sanskrit education board and five days holiday during Durga Puja. Even after the formation of Bangladesh interim government, houses and religious places of minorities have been targeted which is a matter of concern.
