Amidst the tension prevailing in the Middle East and Israeli attacks on Gaza, Saudi Arabia has now opened a front against the Jewish country Israel.
Saudi Arabia on Wednesday hosted the first meeting of a new ‘international grand coalition’ in Riyadh to pressure Israel to establish a Palestinian state.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said about 90 “countries and international organizations” were participating in the two-day meeting in Riyadh.
Last month, during the UN General Assembly, it was decided to form an “International Coalition to Implement the Two-State Solution Policy”.
This grand alliance brings together countries from the Middle East, Europe and different parts of the world on one platform.
Their effort is to find a solution to Palestine under the two-state policy and to impose ceasefire in Gaza by putting international pressure on Israel.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as catastrophic and condemned the complete blockade of northern Gaza.
He said, “Genocide is being carried out there with the aim of evicting the Palestinian people from their land, which their country i.e. Saudi Arabia rejects.”
Diplomats attending the Riyadh meeting said the meeting is expected to focus on the UN agency’s humanitarian access to Palestinian refugees and measures to advance a two-state solution.
Diplomats said the European Union is being represented at the mega meeting by Sven Koopmans, the special representative for the Middle East peace process, while the United States, Israel’s most important military supporter, has appointed Hadi Amr, the State Department’s special representative for Palestinian affairs. Has sent.
Over the past year since Israel launched attacks on Gaza, the Gaza war has revived discussions of a “two-state solution.”
Under this, both the states of Israel and Palestine will live together in peace. But analysts say that goal appears more difficult than ever because the far-right Israeli government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is staunchly against granting statehood to Palestine.
