Tokyo. Japan has said that Russian patrol fighter jets have violated its airspace. Tokyo has said that three times Russian jets entered Japan’s airspace over the main island of Hokkaido. On this, Japanese jets warned them and also used flares. This is the first time that Japan has used flares to warn the Russians. Fighter jets use flares i.e. bright lights as a stern warning to the opponent to go back. Japanese fighter planes had not issued such a warning against Russian aircraft before.
According to the report, the Japanese Defense Ministry said that the Russian IL-38 military patrol aircraft entered Japanese airspace three times near the northern island of Hokkaido. On this, Japan warned the aircraft through radio messages and sent fighter planes. When the Russian jet entered the airspace for the third time, the Japanese aircraft used flares. Japanese government spokesman Yoshimasa Hayashi said that this was the first use of flares against an air intruder.
Hayashi said that Japan has also adopted diplomatic methods to protest the intrusion. Russia’s state media has not reported on this incident. This incident has happened at a time when Russian and Chinese warships are practicing near the northern coast of Japan. Meanwhile, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida also met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in New York.
